Former WWE Champion C.M. Punk Finally Speaks on Wrestling Future

Cm PunkBy Sean Farrell

Welp…here it is…the pipebomb everyone was waiting for. Everyone’s beloved and missed WWE Superstar CM Punk has broken his silence on his departure from the WWE on Colt Cabana’s newest Art of Wrestling podcast episode.

Punk goes into pretty deep detail about his health towards the end of his run, as well as his departure and the lawsuit after.

The full interview is available on iTunes now. Below are a few snippets. Thanks to PWInsider.

* Punk claims he left after the Royal Rumble pay per view because of his health and injuries. He spoke about working with broken ribs, a concussion and bad knees during his last few months in the WWE. Punk was allegedly so sick during last November’s WWE European tour, that he claims he was throwing up and dry heaving every night after his matches. He also claims to have had a fever for months and no appetite. The Straight Edge Superstar said the WWE doctors gave him so many antibiotics that he had a botched accident in the ring on an episode of SmackDown. Punk also goes into brief details about his paycuts.

* Punk also says he suffered a concussion early on during his last Royal Rumble match, but still worked it. He says he passed a concussion test the next day but calls the testing “bulls–t.” WWE informed him that he passed the test, but still wanted him to run the ring ropes and further evaluate him. Punk says that same day he was being pressured about taking a drug test and signing visas for future tours instead of listening to his requests for help because something was obviously wrong.

Punk also claims he told Vince McMahon and Triple H that he was going home and says he went off on Triple H about killing his momentum in 2011 and also Vince for controlling Punk’s creativity. He goes on to add that he told them both that the product was garbage and Daniel Bryan not being considered for the WrestleMania XXX’s main event was a bad idea. Punk says he told them he couldnt do this anymore and was finished.

Punk also stated that Vince was in tears as he hugged Punk goodbye and Vince told him he was family.

BUT…The story wasnt done there. Punk was actually terminated from the WWE. After he left, he was told a couple weeks later by Vince McMahon through text message that he was being suspended for 60 days. This was allegedly the same day before Vince told WWE shareholders that Punk had merely taken a sabbatical. Punk says be never heard from anyone in the WWE once his suspension was over and received his termination papers for “breach of contract” on his wedding day to WWE Diva A.J. Lee in June.

Punk in the interview also talks about how he went after WWE and fought their claim of breach of contract. In conclusion, he got a settlement that allegedly gave him everything he asked for and more. He’s not legally allowed to talk about the settlement itself. He does however say they are done and will never have a working relationship again.

Punk says WWE wanted to issue a joint statement with him but he told them to “f–k off.” He said WWE was worried he would go back to TNA but Punk’s lawyer told WWE that Punk despises wrestling and will never wrestle again. Punk also claims that wrestling Ryback took “20 years off his life” and described “the Big Guy” Ryback as “steroid guy.”

Who knows what is true and what isn’t? This could even be a shoot, this could also be a work…Either way, WWE will survive without C.M. Punk. They’ve survived countless other Superstars who have departed over the years, so why would he be any different?
