Do you think the contingent of Floyd Mayweather, JR.'s blind disciples will ever make a ''Real Case" for Floyd not fighting Manny Pacquiao?

There’s a belief that, if you put an infinite amount of monkeys at an infinite amount of typewriters for an infinite amount of time, eventually one of them will write a masterpiece. But, of course, to prove or disprove anything, a burden of proof is required. I’m pleased to say I now have conclusive proof that disproves the above theory. Floyd Mayweather, JR. fans (some, not all) have been posting the same senseless social media drivel for what seems like an infinity and I think it’s a safe assumption to make that they will continue doing so long after the little guy has hung up his sparring mitts. In response to an article I recently wrote about Floyd’s association with Al

Haymon, the Floyd fans took it upon themselves to respond with thoughtful and articulate responses that would not look out of place on pages pulled from the afore mentioned typewriters.

There have been calls for me to be ‘booted off’ a selection of boxing forums for voicing my opinion on the present whereabouts of Floyd Mayweather’s back bone and those who support a convicted woman beater are reeling in offense at the observations I have made in relation to his obvious unwillingness to fight another man. I was told once, that people resort to foul language and violence only when their argument is invalid and nothing highlights this quite like a Floyd fan in flomotion. To offer you readers just a slice of the logic being applied to my articles and, to take this opportunity to respond to the comments attached to them, I will begin with the most base.

• “You’re a racist who can’t handle a black man doing well.”

Let me say that my introduction to boxing was Ali vs Spinks and I will grow old with the memory of those two great men pitting young blood against age and experience. They continued in a tradition that was founded by the late great Jack Johnson and they joined the long list of legends that included men of all color. I have written many times of the pure joy that was injected into the sport by fighters such as Hagler, Leonard, Hearns, Foreman, Norton, Louis, Jersey Joe, Sugar Ray Robinson and Ezzard Charles. My favorite fighters are Joe Frazier and Mike Tyson and I believe that Andre Ward, gentleman that he always has been, is arguably the best fighter in the world right now. I removed him from the P4P list only because of a forced inactivity and I am on record as saying he will return in style.

• “Forget about Floyd’s conviction and stick to the boxing.”

I am fully aware that other fighter’s have had a torrid past when it comes to the law and domestic issues. But I can’t think of one who would see fit to beat a woman and tremble in such fear at the thought of trading blows with another man. TBE, The Best Excuses, simply can’t be tolerated when a convicted thug turns yellow in the face of a real fight and that’s the only color that comes to mind when I think of Mayweather.

• “Bob Arum is at fault and you’re an idiot for saying differently.”

Let’s get this straight, Bob Arum and Top Rank are not at fault for this fight meandering as it has. Neither are HBO, Freddie Roach or Manny Pacquiao. Were they at fault when the deal was done and Floyd made false allegations that Pacquiao was using PED’s? Were they at fault when Floyd refused the fight on the grounds that Manny Pacquiao’s PPV numbers didn’t satisfy TMT’s requirements in the way that Victor Ortiz or Robert Guerrero did for instance? No…the buck stops with Floyd and the fight will be made only if he finds the balls to sign the contracts.

• “You’re a Pactard and an asshole.”

I’m a fan of all brave fighters and they don’t need a world title to earn my respect. That Pacquiao is a brilliant and brave fighter who never avoided anyone is only a wonderful testament to the man. To refer to me as an asshole is a matter entirely of opinion and opinions are just like assholes, everyone has one. I am most certainly entitled to mine and I intend to make mine known regardless of the sometimes hilarious, nonsensical and often illiterate responses it brings.

• Finally, and this one is a firm favorite of the Floyd fans, “You don’t know shit about boxing and you’re just a hater.”

The blanket response of the fan who can’t answer your arguments. These are the comments of people who still claim Floyd won the first bout with Castillo…that he beat Oscar and didn’t avoid the rematch…that he didn’t avoid Margarito…that he has never avoided Pacquiao…that he hasn’t screwed the last dime out of his fans and still refuses to give them the one fight they are demanding as part of the bargain. To these people I would simply say, boxing isn’t for you guys and, when you have completed your anger management classes, there are courses in flower arranging and finger painting that would benefit greatly from your wonderful imaginations.

I’m sure that this article and others will yield calls of “racist…idiot…hater” and worse but the truth is what it is and Floyd Mayweather, JR. would rather have his fans and his PR team do his fighting for him than face Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd in Las Vegas.
