WWE FANS STUNNED: Where is Bray Wyatt?

BrayBy Nick “Red” Conley

To say it is unfortunate what WWE Creative has done to Bray Wyatt’s character over the last six months (arguably for the last year) is a serious understatement. It has become absolutely clear that Creative has no plan and no idea what to do with Bray Wyatt next. Wyatt is arguably one of the most talented wrestlers on the WWE roster and really could be utilized in a number of storylines, but for whatever reason, he continues to be absent from recent PPV’s, Smackdown, and Monday Night Raw.

Bray Wyatt has appeared on only one RAW episode in the last three, and that was a loss to Roman Reigns. Wyatt was also absent in the May 31 Elimination Chamber paper view, despite speculation he would replace an injured Rusev in the Intercontinental Championship Match. Rumors emerged that Wyatt would not be added to that match because Creative did not want him to lose, but what is the alternative? To remain absent? Wyatt’s last victory was on the May 18 edition of RAW, but that victory was anything but deserving, as The Authority assisted Wyatt in defeating Dean Ambrose. Wyatt was involved in the much publicized feud with the Undertaker in the run up to WrestleMania in January, but as everyone expected, he lost and it has been a downhill spiral since then despite repeated opportunities.

What this all means is that WWE Creative has an immensely talented man, both in the ring and on the microphone, but continues to fumble his character, underutilize him, and lacks the creativity in putting him in new feuds. The next paper view is this Sunday’s Money in the Bank, and as of right now, Wyatt is not booked (although on the WWE Events page, he is being advertised for the paper view). This is just sad. Right now, there are seven participants in the Money in the Bank ladder match, including Roman Reigns, Kofi Kingston, Kane, Neville, Sheamus, Dolph Ziggler, and Randy Orton. There easily can be eight wrestlers and Wyatt would be a perfect fit. Now it is almost guaranteed that Reigns is going to win the Money in the Bank briefcase, but Wyatt would compete and be a serious obstacle in the match.

So while Wyatt is certainly not going to win the briefcase and as of now, not even on the roster for Money in the Bank, there remains a serious question mark on where Bray Wyatt will be in the coming months. One scenario I am hoping for is a reunification with Luke Harper and Erik Rowan to bring back the Wyatt Family. It is clear that WWE Creative has no storylines for Harper or Rowan either, so bring back the trio and maybe have them feud with The New Day, as well as singles matches. There are a few reports out there suggesting that Bray Wyatt’s real life brother Bo Dallas could become a fourth member of the Wyatt Family. I think that would be a fantastic idea and bring a whole new range of opportunities and rivalries. Storylines would write themselves. Bray Wyatt’s character is a great leader and entertaining on the microphone. Utilize that and have him lead a “Nation of Domination-type” alliance. Months of booking would be complete if Bray Wyatt alone or as the head of a group took on The Authority.

I cannot say enough how sad it is over what has happened to Wyatt’s character. Wyatt is a star and for him to be constantly sidelined because WWE Creative lacks the creativity to utilize his character is an insult. When you are being sidelined in paper views by wrestlers like Mark Henry, Kofi Kingston, and Kane, something is seriously wrong. It is not too late for Bray Wyatt, as he still is fresh in WWE fans’ minds and will wow that crowd once allowed back in the ring. The opportunities are endless, but WWE Creative lacks the vision.
