Ronda Rousey, 11-0, 2 KO, 9 Subs, is a phenomenal athlete. She has earned her ranking as the best female MMA fighter in the world, and is paving the way for a whole new generation of empowered female athletes. Her disciplined training regime, and dedication to her craft, is something we can all appreciate. She deserves a lot of the praise she has been given, but the hype is getting out of control and unrealistic, largely due to gullible fans who actually believe in the ridiculous claims and challenges made by the Queen of female MMA.

Rousey has issued challenges to unrealistic opponents like retired female boxing great Laila Ali, 24-0, 21 KO’s, and the current pound for pound best male fighter in the world Floyd Mayweather, JR., 48-0, 26 KO’s, amidst many other outlandish claims. Although I have the utmost respect for her talent, achievements, and dedication, she needs to keep the great sport of boxing, and its great fighters, out of her mouth. She hasn’t even boxed as an amateur, so she would likely lose badly to any top female amateur fighters, let alone an all time great female boxer who outweighs her by over thirty pounds, or THE top professional male.

She is making these absurd challenges to piggy back off of their name recognition, knowing full well that neither of these fights can happen, and that if they did she would be made short work of. Laila Ali has been retired since 2007, she was a safe challenge knowing that eight years into retirement at age 37 she has no interest in returning to fight anyone. Had Ali accepted her challenge, Rousey would have been in with a supreme athlete who dwarfs her by 5 inches in height, outweighs her by over 30 pounds, and who has whooped 24, and knocked out 21, professional fighters that weigh 168 pounds to Rousey’s 135 pounds. It’s safe to say that Ali would have destroyed the tiny Rousey with her first few blows, but because she’s retired, Rousey can talk about how she’d whoop Ali since the fight can never happen, and some fools have bought it.

As for Floyd Mayweather, JR.as an opponent, please….. Do you really think a man who is criticized for domestic issues is going to jump at the opportunity to beat the hell out of a small female in front of millions? Not to mention the fact that Mayweather just made 280 million in one fight, and would never fight for the type of purses awarded to MMA fighters which can be as low as a hundred thousand dollars for a headliner. It’s yet another example of Rousey using a more famous figure to hype herself up, knowing that the fight will never happen, and that if it did she’d be carted out in a stretcher within a couple of minutes as a result of getting nailed by, perhaps, the most accurate right hand in history.

Rousey reminds me of that annoying little Chihuahua in the backyard next door who yaps and yaps like they’re going to tear a piece out of you until you walk within a couple feet of the fence. She’s that kid in grade two who talks trash to the tough kid in grade six, knowing that nothing will come of it other than a reputation for being a badass to people who don’t know any better.
When all time great female boxer, and current trainer, Ann Wolfe, 24-1, 16 KO’s, heard the challenge issued by Rousey to Laila Ali, she immediately offered to fight Rousey, despite being 44 years old and retired for over 9 years! Rousey must have looked up Wolfe’s frightening icing of Vonda Ward, one of the nastiest knockouts ever, because, staying true to her Chihuahua tendencies, she didn’t so much as acknowledge Wolfe’s offer.

Rousey gave female MMA fighter Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino, 14-1, 12 KO’s, 0 Subs, the same treatment. Cyborg is an excellent fighter with devastating power, that is universally recognized as the most dangerous potential opponent for Rousey. She has been consistently calling out Rousey for over a year. She has insulted Rousey on a regular basis, as recently as earlier this week at the UFC Fan Expo. Rousey refuses to fight Cyborg because she’s too big. Rousey fights at 135 pounds while Cyborg fights ten pounds higher, and is only an inch taller.

It’s true that Cyborg is a bit bigger, but if Rousey is supposedly willing to fight Laila Ali, who is five inches taller and 30 pounds heavier, then shouldn’t she be willing to fight a female in her own sport who only outweighs her by ten pounds? In another smoke screen to try and look like a true badass, Rousey has said she would fight Cyborg if Cyborg drops down to her weight class, knowing full well that she could never cut an extra ten pounds and still be effective. Still, it’s enough to convince gullible fans that she’s not ducking the fight, or running scared from Cyborg. Rousey is not even willing to meet in the middle at 140 pounds, no Miss Badass 2015 is requiring her rival to cut a dangerous amount of weight to the point where she’d be so weak that it would render her totally ineffective as a fighter.

Rousey is quickly becoming the poster woman for overt hypocrisy. On top of challenging Mayweather,JR., she has been very critical of Mayweather’s domestic incidents, most recently taking a swipe at him while accepting her Best Fighter award at this years ESPY’s. Hypocritically, just before the ESPY’s, Rousey was photographed with Mike Tyson looking absolutely star struck, and later took to Twitter to tweet about what a great experience it was to have her idol (Tyson) watch her train. Now I’m all for campaigning against domestic violence, we should all be against a man laying his hands on a female for any other reason than self defense, but if you’re going to campaign against it you have to be consistent, or else you get exposed as someone who’s using a horrible reality experienced by millions of females world wide at your own convenience when it benefits your argument in a particular case. If you want to criticize a man for domestic incidents, of which none of us have any clue what truly transpired, then you probably shouldn’t be hanging around with, and heaping praise on, a convicted rapist who has openly admitted to striking females that are a hundred pounds lighter than him when he possessed the most lethal hands on the face of the earth. Rousey’s making it so that her supposed campaign against domestic violence holds very little weight, it’s akin to campaigning against racism then openly being friendly with, and in awe of, the Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

I have a challenge for Miss Rousey if she truly wants to fight a top boxer: I dare her to enter an amateur Golden Gloves competition against amateur females in her own weight class. If she flies through the competition then we can talk about her facing a top female professional boxer, but seeing as she has never even fought one amateur boxing fight, and is an absolute rookie when it comes to striking, it’s doubtful she would get out of the first fight without being completely embarrassed by a young female who is experienced in the sweet science of pugilism.
Top female boxers Cecilia Braekhus, 27-0, 7 KO’s, or Delfine Persoon (same weight as Rousey), 33-1, 16 KO’s, I’m sure would love the attention that comes with fighting the new media darling, so why doesn’t Rousey chase a fight with them instead of retired boxers and men that she know won’t fight her? Likely because Braekhus and Persoon would have her in a world of pain, so like many other legitimate threats, Rousey acts as if they do not exist in favor of bamboozling the public by pretending to chase mythical match ups that will never materialize.

Rousey needs to keep boxing out of her damn mouth and stay in her lane (MMA). I have a proposition for a potential Rousey opponent that I really hope will gain steam. Rousey has used the human rights angle on several occasions to self promote when convenient, and with just one opponent she can champion human rights, feminism, and LGBT rights, while at the same time facing a difficult challenge that would go along way in validating the badass image she is so desperately trying to project. If she’s supposedly willing to fight females that outweigh her by thirty pounds, and the very best male fighter in the world, then why not help a worthy cause by giving a groundbreaking athlete who would be a legitimate threat a shot? Someone who has trouble finding fights because of the way they were born, and would jump at the chance to fight her?

I’m speaking of Fallon Fox, 5-1, 3 KO’s, 2 Subs, the first openly transgendered female MMA fighter. Miss Fox is in the same weight division as Rousey, she actually has less testosterone than the average female, and she has been medically examined by several renowned doctors, who are regarded as top experts in genetics, that have concluded that she has no physical advantages over the average female competitor in her weight division. Dr Eric Vilain, director for the Institue of Society and Genetics at UCLA, stated that male to female transexuals have significantly less muscle strength and bone density, and higher fat mass than males. Transition could actually mean a hormonal disadvantage for Miss Fox. When Fallon Fox was brought up to Rousey as a potential foe, Ronda said she refuses to fight Fox because Fox has male bone structure, and added the ignorant quip “if you go through puberty as a man it’s not something you can reverse, there’s no undo button on that.” Both statements have been proven incorrect by medical experts. Now let’s just play along with Rousey’s uneducated, and discriminatory, statements as if they were true.

Let’s ignore science and say, for argument sake, that Fox did have an unfair advantage. Why would that prevent Rousey from fighting her if she’s serious about her willingness to fight a top male fighter? You can’t have it both ways, if you’re willing to fight Mayweather then certainly you should be up for the task of fighting the smaller and less proficient Fox, despite your uneducated opinions, no? The same uneducated arguments Rousey is now using to avoid a fight with Fox were used in the early 1900’s to deny great black fighters a chance to fight for a world championship in boxing. In an effort to avoid seeing a black man potentially showing athletic superiority over a beloved white champion, racist fans, and media alike, argued that blacks shouldn’t be allowed to fight whites because they had an unfair natural physical advantage.

I hope a fight between Rousey and Fox picks up steam, and becomes an in demand affair by fans everywhere. Rousey could be a groundbreaking figure for accepting Fox’s challenge. A champion for human rights. Visibility is key to acceptance, and she would be praised for her willingness to advance transgender rights by allowing Fallon Fox a shot, thus granting a transgendered athlete visibility on the highest platform. It would give hundreds of thousands of transgender people everywhere a source of inspiration, and a feeling of acceptance.

It could help change the world into a more accepting place with Miss Rousey as a key catalyst in the transgender movement which has been dubbed by no less than president Barrack O’Bama as the civil rights movement of the twenty first century, one of the utmost importance. In 1908, Tommy Burns became the very first champion to give a black man the chance to fight for a world title, breaking the color barrier for the very first time in losing his title to the great Jack Johnson. Miss Rousey can be the Tommy Burns of the twenty first century by breaking the barrier to give a transgendered woman a shot at glory. More than all of that, in the mind of Rousey at least, it would validate this “bad ass willing to whoop anyone” schtick that she’s been adhering to for the last couple of years. C’mon Ronda! Show us your true badass self by fighting Miss Fox!
