Beloved Boxing Manager Si Stern Passes Away at 81 – Breaking Boxing News

si-stern300Longtime boxing manager Si Stern passed away at the age of 81 this past Monday morning. Based out of Key West, Florida, Si managed a number of notable fighters over the years. He was known for being very loyal to them and truly looking out for their best interest. Since he was very successful in the business world, he didn’t need boxing for financial gain but had a strong passion to seek out the very best opportunities for his fighters. Randall Bailey was his most successful fighter, winning a world title with his huge knockout upset of then-unbeaten Mike Jones. Though he didn’t know it at the time, one of Stern’s last moves was to extend Bailey’s career by getting him another promotional opportunity just recently with Andy Kim’s AK promotions out of Korea.

Stern and Bailey had a very strong friendship. Bailey was at his bedside prior to him passing. “Si always believed in me and never gave up on me even following a loss. We had a bond. That was my guy. I promised him I would win a world title when I first signed with him and I did. He will be missed, for sure,” said Bailey.

Stern also managed heavyweight Sherman “Tank” Williams, super middleweight Marcus “Arillius” Upshaw and Cuban Olympian heavyweight Robert Alfonso.
