Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller Wins Big on SHOBOX – Boxing News

Big BabyBy “The Commissioner” Alan J. Kindred

Welterweight Bakhtiyar Eyubov, now 10-0, 10 KO’s, looked impressive in his SHOBOX debut stopping Jared Robinson, now 16-3-1, 7 KO’s, in the third round. Eyubov came out and nearly immediately put Robinson down in the opening seconds, and went on to drop him multiple times over the course of 3 rounds. Eyubov, not much of a jabber at all, primarily used a crouch and forearm guard to maul his way inside, and once there unleased a fury of combinations, mostly hooks and uppercuts, looking like a poor man’s Joe Frazier. Robinson had previously been stopped by Amir Imam in 4 rounds, and beaten on a 10 round decision to Michael Perez, but perhaps now one has dealt with him more impressively then Eyubov. Eyubov is now one of the more hot prospects in the 140/147 lbs. divisions.

In the second bout of the evening, Heavyweight Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller, now 16-0-1, 14 KO’s stopped Donovan Dennis, now 12-3, 10 KO’s, in round 7. After being dropped twice in round one Dennis showed tremendous heart in courage battling back to even win a round or two in a brutal affair. Ultimately Miller size and power was too much and an exhausted Dennis was stopped by a vicious combination in the corner. The referee was perhaps a punch or two late in stopping the fight. Miller remains one of the more interesting American Heavyweight prospects with the win.

In the SHOBOX main event Middleweight Rob Brant, now 19-0, 12 KO’s, emphatically knocked out Decarlo Perez, now 15-4-1, 5 KO’s, in the 4th round, after dropping him in the 3rd. The knockout was a stunning one, with Perez knocked into the ropes where he lay momentarily before being sprung back into the ring motionless. He woke up after a few seconds but it was a particularly brutal KO. Rob Brant continues to get closer to contention in the Middleweight division.
