Former UFC Lightweight champion, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis had a rough 3-fight skid. After losing his title to Rafael Dos Anjos, he lost two consecutive times and on the verge of being cut from the promotion.

Pettis was not bothered though, he opted to shift from lightweight to the 145 featherweight division, in search of a win.

Pettis fought Charles Oliveira who is the current number 6 ranked featherweight in the world, Pettis did not disappoint and found his old groove back with an impressive 3rd round submission, the fight itself was also action packed as Oliveira was game the whole time.

After the win, Pettis expressed his desire to get his title shot:

“So I’m trying to get down to that title shot so if it’s (Max Holloway [featherweight contender]) or if it’s somebody else, we’ll figure it out” Pettis said.

With a tightly pack featherweight division, the stakes are higher and definitely better for the Milwaukee native as he plans to get his second title from a different weight class.

One thing is for sure, Pettis would be a great addition to featherweight if he decides to stay, “Showtime” will definitely make the lights shine brighter in the lower weight classes.
