Today is the 10-year anniversary of the fight between Floyd Mayweather, JR. (whose nickname was still “Pretty Boy” and who now goes by “Money” and “TBE”) and Carlos Manuel Baldomir (boxing nickname – “Tata”). Mayweather weighed in at 146 pounds and Baldomir weighed in at 147 pounds. The fight happened at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Mayweather, JR. won by a 12-round Unanimous Decision, On the scorecards, 120-108 (twice) and 118-110. It was Baldomir´s tenth professional loss. With the win, Mayweather, JR. won the titles of WBC World Welterweight Champion. Not only that, he kept his undefeated record, elevating it to 37-0, 24 KO’s.

Also, today is the 5-year anniversary of the fight between Denis Lebedev and James “Lights Out” Toney. Lebedev weighed in at 198 pounds and Toney weighed in at 199.25 pounds (notice that he had weighed in at 257 pounds in his previous fight, his heaviest yet for a professional fight), his lowest weight in over 8 years, ever since he had caused Vassily Jirov´s first professional loss, weighing in at 190 pounds.

Lebedev-Toney happened at the Khodynka Ice Palace, Moscow, Russia. Lebedev prevailed by a 12-round Unanimous Decision. 120-108 on all three judges’ cards.

Finally, today is also is the 5-year anniversary of a fight between Suriyan Kaihanka (alias Suriyan Sor Rungvisai) and Nobuo Nashiro. Both weighed in at 115 pounds. The fight happened at the National Stadium Gymnasium, Bangkok, Thailand. Kaihanka prevailed by a 12-round Unanimous Decision. On the scorecards, 119-109, 116-113, and 115-113. With the win, Kaihanka retained the title of WBC World Super Flyweight Champion.
