The Last of An Era of Crooners Is Gone: Grammy Award Winning Singer Jack Jones Dies at 86 – Entertainment News

Grammy-winning singer Jack Jones, whose hits included “Lollipops and Roses”, “Wives and Lovers”, “Call Me Irresponsible”, and “The Impossible Dream”, passed away October 23, 2024, at Eisenhower Medical in Rancho Mirage, California, after a two-year battle with leukemia. He was 86.
Jones was the son of singer Allan Jones and actress Irene Hervey. His first professional gig was with his father, who was performing in Las Vegas. In 1959, he was signed to Capitol Records.
Following Capitol Records, he was signed to Kapp Records and then RCA. Between 1959 and 2002, Jones recorded and was featured in many studio albums.
Jones also appeared in numerous TV and film productions including JUKE BOX RHYTHM (1959), THE HARDY BOYS/NANCY DREW MYSTERIES (1977-1979), THE COMEBACK (1978), CONDOMINIUM (1980), AIRPANE II: THE SEQUEL (1982), NIGHT COURT (1984-1992), AMERICAN HUSTLE (2013), and BACK TO BLACK (2024). What many people may not know is that Jones was the singer who performed the theme song for the iconic TV series THE LOVE BOAT (1977-1986). He also appeared in one episode of the show, playing a character named Bobby Braddock.
