Peter Kingsbery formed a band and called it after a 17th-century story “The Marriage of Cock Robin and Jenny Wren”.
The band was signed to CBS Records and their self-titled debut album was released in 1985. It didn’t do much in America but it was a huge success in Europe.
“When Your Heart is Weak”, “The Promise You Made”, “Thought You Were on My Side” were big hits in Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, Spain and Holland.
The band started out as a quartet but reduced to a duo in 1987: Peter Kingsbery and Anna LaCazio.
Their second album “After Here Through Midland” was released that year and again only scored big in Europe. Same thing happend with their third 1989 album “First Love/Last Rites”.
Cock Robin disbanded in 1990.
Fast Forward to 2025:
Cock Robin released four more albums after getting back together in 2006:
“I Don’t Want to Save the World” – 2006
“Songs from a Bell Tower” – 2010
“Chinese Driver” – 2016
“Homo Alien” – 2021
As of 2024 Cock Robin has no future plans of releasing new material.
