Tony Jeter – Jimmy Lange II Post Fight Recap

Last night at the George Mason University Patriot Center boxing fans were treated to a great card of professional boxing. In the featured bout was a rematch for the North American Boxing Association (NABA) USA Championship. The middleweight bout was a scheduled ten rounder between Tony “’Mo Better” Jeter, 18-4-1, 12 KO’s taking on Jimmy Lange, 38-6-2, 25 KO’s. Jeter would win a majority decision when the cards were read. You could tell there was bad blood between the two fighters.
Jeter had that 1000 mile stare that nothing could break him and Lange came into the ring with AC/DC “BACK IN BLACK” pounding on the sound system with the same intensified look. In the first round, Jeter threw some menacing blows that caught Lange and made him take notice. Throughout the rounds they battled like two adversaries from years gone by telling each other with each blow thrown, I own you!
Lange got a cut over the left eye apparently from an incidental headbutt from Jeter which caused him to get a warning from the referee. Lange bloodied, but not beaten gave Jeter as much as he was given. With the prevalence of lows blows throughout the bout, in the 8th round ref Clancy gave Jeter a last warning for low blows. Each man was going for the jugular neither asking nor giving any quarter, but delivering everything they had in each blow thrown. They will definitely pay the cost later.
In the Co-main event was a women’s bout for the Women’s International Boxing Association (WIBA) Championship. It was a scheduled 10 round welterweight fight between Tori “Sho-Nuff” Nelson, 13-0-3, 1 KO taking on Victoria Cisneros, 11-17-2, 4 KO’s. This fight was a beast from start to the finish. Nelson threw some of the most wicked punches and body shots I’ve ever seen! Cisneros took every last one of them and kept coming forward for more. If Cisneros had more power, she would have given Nelson a run for her money. Cisneros threw some body punches that gave Nelson something to think about, but it just wasn’t enough. Cisneros was the more fit of the two which you could tell because Nelson was winded after the 4th round, but that did not stop her from delivering some blistering head shots that snapped Cisneros’ head back like a rock’em sock’em robot. This bout proved the ladies in the sport of boxing can fight!
Undercard Results:
4 round super middleweight bout
Ray Terry, 2-0, 2 KO’s defeated Kevin Bartlett 0-4 by a TKO at 2:10 in the first round. From the start Bartlett didn’t really want to mix it up and Ray Terry obliged him by putting him to the canvas 3 times before the ref stopped the fight.
4 round heavyweight fight
Mike Balogun, 2-0, 2 KO’s taking on Percy Womack who was making his pro debut. From the onslaught Balogun had Womack in the bag and at 1:20 in the first round it was proven with a knockout.
4 round super middleweight fight
Devar Ferhadi, 4-0, 3 KO’s taking on Jess Noriega 3-12, 3 KO’s. At the start of the fight, it was going well for Noriega until Ferhadi hit him with a gut busting left hand that turned the tide of the fight for the next three rounds. In the end, Noriega couldn’t come out for the fourth round and the referee stopped it by TKO.
4 round junior welterweight bout
Seth Billups,5-0, 4 KO’s 4-0 taking on Sean Lockhart, 5-25-2, 2 KO’s. Billups dominated Lockhart from the bell and never let up until the ref stopped the fight at 2:04 in the third round. Lockhart never started the fight and looked like he was not even in the arena. Billups hit him with so many punches he knocked him down and even though Lockhart got up you could tell the bout was over for him.
6 round super middleweight bout
Thomas Brown, 16-4-2, 9 KO’s defeating Jonathan Reid, 35-16, 9 KO’s by a unanimous decision. There were several occasions where Brown could have pulled the trigger and truly dominated the fight but he seemed hesitant and wanting to just counter punch in lieu of taking the fight to Reid. When he did make the decision to bring the heat he had Reid hands down, but Brown kept letting Reid off the hook and allowing him to get back into the fight.
