Let’s factor in on the good that emerged from Floyd Mayweather, JR.’s dominance in the sport of boxing. Now, we all know since the absence of Mike Tyson the sport took a turn for the worse, especially in the heavyweight division. So I guess it’s safe to say Floyd Mayweather, JR. is single handedly responsible for bringing boxing back to where it belongs and generating not only millions of dollars, but also generating more than enough public interest from a fan standpoint.

Also, the spotlight has been solely on the little guys of the sport. Where as at one point, for a long while, it was all about the heavyweights. I think it’s safe to say Floyd is solely responsible for that. Fighters are also making a very substantial amount of money due to the billions of dollars that Mayweather, JR. was able to generate in the sport of boxing. Guys are making the kind of paydays fighters at 140 and 147 10 years ago could only dream of.

Now, here’s where Floyd Mayweather, JR. seems to be hurting the sport. Rather it’s inadvertently or rather he is aware of it or not, the damage is being done. Upcoming fighters nowadays seem to be only concerned about keeping the “0” on their record. Some fighters may or may not be as good as their record indicates. But as a result of this fighters of today are not fighting elite competition; neither are they fighting each other for that top spot. They seem to have this if I keep my “0” “the money will flow” mentality trying to substitute and expedite the process of paying their dues.

No, it’s not Floyd Mayweather, JR.’s fault whole heartedly because out of his last 15 fights only two of them weren’t champions. So the ducking fighters stigma that Floyd has over his head is totally false. But fighters of today seem to all think they’re entitled to the Mayweather, JR. sweepstakes. I don’t even think it’s about actually beating Floyd Mayweather, JR. anymore. It’s all about that payday.
