Packy’s World: Tyson Fury, Roy Jones, JR Get the F&^* Out of Boxing, Burt Reynolds, My Pal Al & The Chutzpah Award Goes to Santa Claus
By Packy “Boom Boom” Goldstein
Oy Vay are you going to hear it today… RSR readers I received all of your wonderful emails and concern for your pal Packy, but I was never sick, just away to our native land of Israel for our yearly trip Sadie loves to go on. I do as well and you would think Sadie was running for office over there. There are so many folks that love her and come up to us at various cafes we eat at. But enough about Sadie and I, let’s get into some boxing!
Tyson Fury… I happen to be in the minority, but I like this guy who has very little talent in the ring, but beat the man (Wladimir Klitschko) who was recognized by the world as the legit Heavyweight Champion. Fury’s reign will not last long, but while it does, stand by for some great laughs. And after Wlad, I truly welcome that fight fans!
Roy Jones, JR… Simply said, get the fuck out of boxing! You have been getting knocked out since 2005, and there is no doubt you have some type of brain damage. You’re killing your legacy by obviously fighting on ego and if you are in need of money, get another job! Bradley, don’t you edit what I wrote or I will kick you right in the bagels boychick!
Burt Reynolds… Upon our return from Israel, his new autobiography “BUT ENOUGH ABOUT ME” was in my box. He is so underrated as an actor and a gentleman who I have met many times and was a great guy. He is a previous winner of my coveted “Chutzpah Award” and here are my top five best movies by him.
5. The End
4. Sharkey’s Machine
3. W.W. and The Dixie Dance Kings
2. Deliverance
1. Starting Over
My Pal Al (“Bad” Brad’s Father)…. Every holiday season, Al would have a big party and invite friends over who he would entertain. His fantastic sense of humor had us on the floor and though this is a merry time of year, it’s also melancholy because Sadie and I truly miss him.
The Chutzpah Award… The Chutzpah Award goes to Santa Claus! Of course he is not real or is he? Who knows, but what I do know, as my children were little, and though we celebrated Chanukah, we also had many friends that celebrated Christmas. Sadie and I let our kids do both. The wonderment and the innocence of them laying cookies and milk out with the anticipation of him coming to drop gifts off always moved us. A child’s innocence is such a beautiful thing and if Santa Claus, real or not, can do that, than there will always be a Santa Claus in the Goldstein’s house.
