Last Round Promotions Kicks Off I.E. Fight Club

World Champion Leo Santa Cruz has begun his promotional career. Saturday night inside of the Radisson Hotel in Ontario, California. Last Round Promotions brought fight fans an evening of boxing action showcasing some of Southern California’s up and coming boxing prospects. In Last Round’s inaugural boxing card fans filled the ballroom in anticipation of the action in the squared circle.

In the first fight of the evening Saul Sanchez from Pacoima, California made his pro debut against Temoatzin Landeros, 0-2, from Mexico City, Mexico. In a back and forth battle these two bantamweights slugged it out. through the first 2 rounds Sanchez landed the cleaner more effective shots. in round 3 Sanchez landed vicious combinations hurting Landeros pinning him on the ropes forcing the referee to step in at the 2:02 mark of round 3 and stop the fight.

In the second fight of the night Super Featherweights Yovani Rodarte, 1-1 from Los Angeles, California battled Kevin Salas, 1-0, from Tijuana, Mexico in a 4 round fight. Yovani controlled the fight from the start landing heavy body shots from the inside. Although Salas was a tough opponent he never established a plan and fought on the defensive throughout the fight eventually losing a unanimous decision. Rodarte moves to 2-1.

Next up was Lightweight Saul Bustos, 3-0-1, from Los Angeles, California Saul took on Eduardo Del Rio, 0-1 from Tijuana, Mexico. In a complete mismatch of competition Saul hurt the out classed Del Rio early in the first with the referee stepping in to stop the fight at the 2:10 mark of the first round.

In a Welterweight battle local favorite Flavio Rodriguez 3-0, 2 KO’s from South Central Los Angeles took on Mario Angeles, 1-8 from San Diego California. In a tough first round both fighters measured each other out and went back and forth with heavy wild punches. The second round seen much of the same from Angeles while Rodriguez began to connect with big body shots and combinations. Flavio landed a perfect right on the jaw of Angeles near the end of the round sending Angeles to the canvas, Angeles was unable to beat the count. Flavio’s moves to 4-0, 3 KO’s with tonight’s knockout victory.

In the 5th fight of night Super Featherweight Jose Luis Ramirez, 26-6, 16 KO’s from Oxnard, California took on Juan Hernandez 5-2, 3 KO’s from Tijuana, Mexico in a 8 round match. in a one sided non stop action fight Ramirez was able to stop Juan Hernandez by unanimous decision by the scores of 80-72 on all three judges scorecards.

In the main event of the evening crowd favorite, Featherweight Jose “El Gallo” Gomez, 5-0, 1 KO, of Huntington Park fought Daniel Gutierrez 0-2, From the opening bell Gomez was the aggressor beating Guttierez to the punch and landing punches in bunches on the face of Gutierrez. The second round was much of the same, when Gomez landed a hard right to the chin of Gutierrez forcing the referee to jump in and stop the action.

Overall Last Round Promotions put on a good “Club” card that brought the traditional come forward action type action fight to the fans. The soldout crowd was able to witness not only heavy action in the ring but was also able to enjoy a fan friendly environment with many former and current boxing champions shaking hands and taking pictures. Leo Santa Cruz and his partner Andres Moreno are definitely on the right path as far showcasing young boxing talent and future champions in Southern California.
