Friday Star Tommy “Tiny” Lister Dies at 62 – Entertainment News

Actor Thomas “Tiny” Lister , JR. known for his roles in FRIDAY (1995), and its sequel NEXT FRIDAY (2000), died December 10, 2020, in Marina Del Ray, California, after experiencing Covid-19 symptoms. He was 62 years old.

Thomas “Tiny” Lister was born on June 24, 1958, in Compton, California. He attended Palomar Junior College and transferred to Long Beach College. He recorded a 52 ft shot put throw, which earned him a scholarship to California State University at Los Angeles. In his senior year, he won the national shot put title. Lister was the 1982 NCAA Division II national Shot Put Champion.

The character actor appeared in numerous films and televisions series including WEBSTER (1983-1989), RUNAWAY TRAIN (1985), BLUE CITY (1986), PERFECT STRANGERS (1986-1993), BEVERLY HILLS COP II (1987), MATLOCK (1986-1995), THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR (1990-1996), UNIVERSAL SOLDIER (1992), WALKER, TEXAS RANGER (1993-2001), IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT (1988-1995), DON JUAN DEMARCO (1994), ER (1994-2009), STEP BY STEP (1991-1998), THINGS TO DO IN DENVER WHEN YOU’RE DEAD (1995), MARTIN (1992-1997), A THIN LINE BETWEEN LOVE AND HATE (1996), BARB WIRE (1996), MOESHA (1996-2001), THE JAMIE FOXX SHOW (1996-2001), THE FIFTH ELEMENT (1997), JACKIE BROWN (1997), THE PLAYERS CLUB (1998), LITTLE NICKY (2000), THE DARK KNIGHT (2008), and ZOOTOPIA (2016), among many others.

Lister also had short stints as a wrestler in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), and World Championship Wrestling (WCW). He appeared with Hulk Hogan in the wrestling film NO HOLDS BARRED (1989), playing Zeus, and reprised Zeus in multiple episodes of WWF CHALLENGE (1986), WWF SUPERSTARS (1986-1999), HULKAMANIA FOREVER (1990) and WWF WRESTLING’S GREATEST STEEL CAGE MATCHES EVER! (1992).
